Fun and Games

We were fortunate to have purchased a lot which contained a basketball court. This has become a favorite sport for the children we serve as well as neighborhood children who often visit our facility. Skating is another favorite activity as the kids can skate on the property and also at “el malecon” which runs along the waterfront in the tourist section of Granada.

Volunteers Cory and Mariana take a group of kids on a boat excursion to Las Isletas on Lake Nicaragua.

Granada is famous for its 385 small islands off its shoreline. We have made arrangements with the harbor master to take large groups of children to the islands to swim and picnic for a reduced rate. These trips are invaluable, not only as fun recreational activites for the children, but also as learning experiences relating to the environment, conservation, and bird watching.

Ezequiel, Noel, David, and Ismael enjoy a game of basketball as our resident watchdog Simba Jose' waits for his shot.

Luis, Jaime, Chepe, Cesar, and Oso take a rest from skating on "el malecon," the park which runs along the waterfront in the tourist section of Granada.

Lake Nicaragua in front of our property. Through the generous donation of two kayaks and a fishing boat, the children can enjoy the lake year-round.
